12/05/09, Staff Blog: Wang & Li Has Gone Digital

By Qi Xin

On-camera performances worthy of Oscar nominations!  Production value and directing that would make Zhang Yimou proud!  Up-and-coming digital media stars of tomorrow!  Okay, nobody has said any of these things to us yet, but that’s not stopping us one bit from enthusiastically bringing Wang & Li into the digital age through the launch of our new career development online video segments.  For anyone seeking job opportunities or actively pursuing their career success in China, these video segments provide a fast and extremely user-friendly way to access a lot of the career development insights and trends that we see among employers and professionals here in the mainland.  For Wang & Li, they are one more way for our company to deliver our China job market insights and career development advice to professionals for this market.

“Although I try to write as often as I can, a lot of times, I’m just not in the mood,” says Wang & Li CEO, Larry Wang.  “But turn a video camera on and throw me a few questions about what’s going on in China’s job market and I can pretty much deliver something in a few minutes that is going to be pretty helpful and practical for anyone looking for tips on how to more effectively pursue your career success in China.”

“What I like about these video segments is that they are not just user-friendly, they’re also very production-friendly,” adds Wang & Li general manager, Rita Dong.  “Instead of having to express things in writing, the videos allow the rest of us at Wang & Li to share our front-line, job market stories and expertise in a much easier way.  They also give more of us a chance to share our career development perspectives as mainland professionals in the midst of building and pursuing our career success and competing in this market.”

Our online video segments can be found on our website, at www.wang-li.com, and is called Ask Wang & Li:  China Career Development Advice & Insights.  Besides Larry and Rita, video segments will also feature insights and responses to questions from our Beijing branch manager, Leila Liu, and other Wang & Li consultants.  Ask Wang & Li video segments are mostly 2-4 minutes in length and respond to common questions about China’s employment/talent market and how to pursue your career success in the mainland.  New videos will be posted on a weekly basis, with questions addressed ranging from ones on current job and hiring market trends in China to latest developments in the mainland’s talent market to how to better identify and pursue attractive opportunities and career tracks in this market.  Over time, we look forward to developing a video library of highly practical and helpful content that will be benefit anyone pursuing their career success in the mainland.

“As a company, we really try to live up to our commitment of providing value to every person we encounter, which we believe we’re in an excellent position to do given the top clients and candidates that we work with and the career scenarios that we see in this market,” says Rita Dong.  “Through our online video segments, we hope to reach many times more candidates who are able to benefit from our job market insights.  And if by any chance we do get an Oscar nomination somewhere down the road, then that will just be an added bonus for us!”
