Over the years, our company
has had many opportunities to place candidates
in key management positions for the portfolio
companies of our private equity and venture
capital clients. When talking to potential
candidates who work in multinational or large
international companies, they frequently ask me
about whether their more established, company
backgrounds working with well-trained colleagues
will fit a more start-up, entrepreneurial
situation, and if I think they can be successful
in such an environment.
The Chance To Do More
I
would say, from one aspect, their professional
experience and understanding of international
processes and standards will contribute greatly
to a less mature environment that is trying to
adopt such standards and business practices.
For those seeking the chance to take on a
leadership role for their particular function,
yet don’t see that opportunity coming soon in
their current job, a start-up situation provides
many more opportunities for them to set-up,
lead, and drive a function and team. In
addition, such situations also provide them with
opportunities make the kind of contributions
that impact
a business in a huge way.
