New Wang & Li Book Release!
Reaching Chinese Readers With <知己知彼> (Zhi
Ji Zhi Bi)
By Kris Zhang

|
Providing sound, practical career development guidance
and advice to mainland professionals has always been a main, underlying
objective of Wang & Li’s recruitment services business. Beyond
introducing top bilingual/international-caliber talent to the many leading,
international companies that we work with, we
are always trying to provide our value to
candidates as well by sharing with them our insights and input
on what they should be doing to better attain the
career success that they seek. Now, through the new
release of Zhi Ji Zhi Bi, the Chinese-translated
version of Know The Game, Play The Game, we are extremely excited to
make accessible our career development expertise to a significantly greater
number
of mainland professionals.
“I’ve
always maintained that for every mainland professional who has read and
benefited from the English version of Know The Game, Play The Game,
there were perhaps a hundred who would readily read and also benefit from a
Chinese version of the book,” according to Larry Wang, the author of
Know The Game, Play The Game.
“Producing and making available a quality Chinese language version,
however, is not an easy task.
The challenge isn’t so much in coming up with a Chinese-translated
version. <For full

Wang & Li Back On Campus!
By
Vera Sun
|
|
After a few
idle years, Wang & Li is happy to once again be visiting campuses and
delivering presentations to top business schools and MBAs in China. “It’s a very motivated,
up-and-coming pool of professionals that we have always been committed to
supporting and developing a long-term relationship with,” says Wang &
Li general manager, Rita Dong.
“Through our career development and job market presentations at
programs here in China,
like CEIBS, BIMBA, Guanghua, Tsinghua,
and Fudan
University, we can
stay on top of and respond to many of the career
development challenges that mainland MBAs are facing in the market today.”
Although it is
not that common for recruitment firms to be invited by MBA programs to
address their students, Wang & Li has been making visits to MBA
campuses from as long ago as the mid-1990s, when it first began doing its
recruitment business. In those
early years, that was mostly to leading U.S., MBA programs, such as
Wharton, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, UCLA, and the University of Chicago, to
name a few. At that time our
company was mainly targeting overseas and regional Chinese professionals
who were studying abroad, but seeking opportunities back in Greater China
after graduation.

New Career Development Book
Preview!

Excerpt from Larry Wang's new career
development book for mainland professionals, called How To DYFET, or
How To Develop Yourself As A Future Executive Today, which is due out later
this year.

Chapter 7:
Where Are You Today?
The Importance Of Doing
Self-Assessments
|
|
|
It is not
difficult to recognize the benefits of having a good assessment of where you
are in your professional development and where you need to improve. Yet, most mainland professionals
that I meet are not active enough in doing such a self-assessment. Instead, they rely too much on their
boss or their company to monitor their development progress and to identify
their professional development needs.
That’s easy to
let happen. If you work in a
multinational company, it is likely that you receive outside feedback
through semi-annual or annual performance reviews. These reviews usually let you know
how well you are performing certain tasks and meeting the main objectives
of your job. They also point
out to what extent you are demonstrating desired capabilities and qualities
that are important for your career advancement in the organization. Certainly, these reviews are very
helpful. But if you are only
getting such assessments once or twice a year, think about all the time
that is passing by in between as you wait for others to tell you many of
the things that you could be identifying for yourself earlier on. Think how much faster you could be
improving in those key areas if your awareness of them occurred much
sooner.
